Wikia Announces Fan Studio Partnershi
Wikia and Mistwalker will work together to build out the official Terra Battle Community, which recently launched, as the ultimate resource for fans of Terra Battle.
“Mobile is an exciting space for us, with engaged audiences,” said Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Terra Battle. “Mobile games have been challenged to build the types of communities and camaraderie of other games and we are confident that Wikia is the perfect partner for us to root the game and truly celebrate it with the fans.”
From the creator of one of the world’s best-known series of role-playing videogames, “Terra Battle” is a tactical role-playing game about a group of warriors who embark on a journey to the center of the world to learn about a mysterious entity known as The Maker. In today’s world of the superfan, Mistwalker has taken to the Wikia platform to embrace collaboration as a means of resonating with audiences beyond gaming and into pop culture and science fiction, thanks to the game’s fan-focused reward system. The partnership will provide fans of the official Wikia “Terra Battle” community access to Sakaguchi and his team at Mistwalker, which includes fan-favorite artist Yoshitaka Amano and musician Nobuo Uematsu.
“The superfans across our platform are extremely engaged,” said Simon Cox, Director of Programming for Games at Wikia. “The Fan Studio partnership with Terra Battle will give them the opportunity to directly interact with Sakaguchi-san and his dream-team of talent, which is the type of one-of-a-kind experience that only Wikia can deliver.”
Terra Battle marks the sixth game from Mistwalker, following fan-favorites Last Story, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon and is the third major game Fan Studio partnership this year for Wikia, which shows a steady momentum of strategic relationships for the company. Earlier this year, Wikia announced an exclusive partnership with 2K on behalf of the ‘Civilization’ game franchise and with NCSoft/Carbine Studios around massively multiplayer online title, WildStar. In 2013, Wikia also announced a strategic partnership with Warner Brothers Interactive around the highly anticipated video game, Shadow of Mordor, among other collaborations including leading movie site Rotten Tomatoes to integrate Wikia content into their new entertainment product, the TV Zone.
