Jagex has updated Old School RuneScape’s Forestry just two weeks after its debut.
After the beta was cancelled owing to technical difficulties, Jagex released the Woodcutting addition for Old School RuneScape on June 28th, without a final poll. The expansion is called osrs forestry. Jagex modifies each new content that is added to the game in accordance with player feedback. This is exactly what transpired over two weeks following the debut of osrs forestry.
You must first comprehend what forestry is and how you may become involved in it in order to comprehend the modifications that Jagex brought about and their motivation, which goes beyond community suggestions. A forestry kit and your standard woodcutting axe are all you need to begin your forester adventure in Old School RuneScape.
Basics of osrs forestry
It is now acceptable to woodcut the same tree as another player without the tree despawning more quickly due to changes made to the despawn and respawn mechanisms of trees. Additionally, as long as other players are woodcutting the same tree, you will always receive an unseen boost for woodcutting. This will encourage you to woodcut with others, and Jagex has created several worlds just for this, making it simple to organise a group.
The osrs forestry extension is available to you whether or whether you are a member or an F2P. As an F2P, you will only be able to participate in a few of the rando forestry events rather than all of them, even though the forestry kit and invisibility boost are available to everyone. They still give out a tonne of XP for woodcutting, though. In addition to having access to more tree varieties, membership entitles you to a few extra osrs forestry events.
It is important to note that certain trees, such as the common ones, do not have the ability to create random events. If you want not to have any events at all, you should woodcut inside the Woodcutting Guild. Along with a new version of the Lumberjack costume, this addition offers a fresh method of getting it other from the traditional Temple Trekking minigame. Although it won’t always give you more OSRS GP, forestry will give you more experience points.
Modifications to Forest Events
With the release of Forestry Part 2, Jagex intends to add additional random occurrences to the current four that are available for forestry. A developing root system, a struggling sapling, a flowering bush, and a woodcutting leprechaun are the events that come with osrs forestry part 1. Here, we should soon see some adjustments for them.
Adaptations to the Battered Sapling
This event awarded a significant amount of XP at launch. After making adjustments for the first week, Jagex balanced the XP rates for this event by taking a 30% cut and modifying the rates for the two right ingredients and the three proper ingredients.
Modifications to the Flowering Tree
Jagex has added colour to the blossoms and made other cosmetic adjustments for the flowering tree event. As a result, they are simpler to see, and for players who are color-blind, a hovering text has been included. This is due to the fact that most players found the event to be somewhat frustrating, and many of them decided not to have the bee stay around. Some players even reprimanded those who did, citing the event’s perceived difficulty.
Modifications to Rising Roots
This event grants a tonne of experience points for woodcutting—so much so that it felt excessive, especially considering the roots that emerge when cutting a magic tree. As several players have stated, Jagex should have reduced the amount of experience points, but instead they changed the rate at which the roots spawn, making the event much less affable and requiring greater concentration on your part—the same goes for the price of osrs forestry.
Scene of the Event
It was getting harder and harder for players to move between the three spawned elements—roots, ingredient piles, and flowers—during the four forestry events when there was other very obtrusive items around. As a result, Jagex has chosen to eliminate flowers, box traps, and flames from the event tiles automatically. It is now impossible to set up your dwarf multi-canon at a location where an event might occur.
