The history of ironing is long and interesting. Ironing first appeared among our cave forebears. They used wood, polished stones or bone to iron with. This progressed for a few millennia with different implements until Henry W. Seely patented the first electric iron in 1882. The first steam iron appeared about 40 years later, in 1926.
So what’s so great about steam press irons besides the extreme sport capabilities? There are a number of reasons why you’d be a more fulfilled person with a stream press and why you should consider abandoning your regular iron.
The best reason is that it’ll save you plenty of time. Of course, this is only true for someone who has to do plenty of ironing; someone with only one or two shirts to iron may not save as much time, though there may be other reasons why it would still benefit them to get a steam press iron. You’d whizz through your ironing in half the time it would take you with a conventional iron. This is possible because steam irons use steam to remove creases from large areas in your clothing.
It is also much easier to iron with a steam press. Conventional irons can often be cumbersome and you may struggle to get to all the spots, especially the spots that are already difficult to get to. Steam press irons do not have such difficulties because the clothing gets pressed down, they don’t get ironed. Both sides of the item get ironed so regular irons can’t compete with this because they can only iron one side of an item at a time.
So not only does a steam press iron get your clothing pressed in just a couple of minutes – seconds if you’re lucky – it could also do a great job of keeping your clothing crisp and hygienic. Most of these steam press irons use steam and the steam kills any harmful microorganisms that might be hiding in the fabric. There is also no need to feel concerned about delicate items – you can adjust your steam press iron to the correct temperature for different fabric types.
You could sit down in one of your more comfortable chairs while you’re ironing your clothes. This will surely be a big relief from having to stand while ironing everything.
