Canada’s wealthiest people saw their riches increase this year, despite the global recession, according to Canadian Business magazine.
The magazine released its 11th annual ranking of Canada’s 100 wealthiest people today.
Topping the list was the Thomson family. Their wealth rose 19% from last year to about $21.9 billion. The highest climber in the rankings was Ivanhoe Mines executive Robert Friedland, who jumped 61 spots in the list to number 32 in the rankings.
Friedland’s wealth rose 217% to $1.59 billion.
