If you wish to have six pack abs, you may be wondering just how to go about it. If you do a search on the internet you will undoubtedly be a bit overwhelmed by all of the information out there and sadly, much of it is false. Many people believe that all they have to do in order to get a six pack is to do sit-ups and crunches for a month or two. They could not be more wrong. In reality, there is a bit more involved in getting a great six pack and we will look at five fundamental steps in getting six pack abs in this article.
The very first thing that you need to do in order to build up your abs is to be sure that you are eating a well-balanced diet that is rich in protein, low in fat and carbohydrates. One of the best ways to begin to modify your diet is to eat frequent, small meals throughout the day instead of eating three large meals. This way your body will have the time it needs to burn calories and you will not feel overly hungry which may cause you to overeat.
The second step involves doing some form of cardiovascular training. This will get you in terrific shape and will help to melt away any unwanted fat you may be carrying around your mid-section and elsewhere on your body. If you love to ride a bicycle then by all means make biking your cardio routine.
The third thing you should do is to incorporate some good ab exercises into your workout routine. Set a goal of working out your abs three days a week. There are many great ab exercises with the most common ones being sit-ups, crunches ab curls and jackknife sit-ups.
Step number four involves drinking an adequate amount of water every day. Most people drink far too little water. The general recommendation is to follow the “8 x8” rule, meaning you should drink eight full eight ounce glasses of water each day. Cut out the sugary drinks and replace them with fresh tap or bottled water. Your muscles need water in order to increase in size and your body requires that you consume at least this much to keep things in check.
The fifth and final step involved in getting a great looking six pack is to set goals and to be consistent. Write out a schedule if you feel that will help you to stay on track. Do not allow yourself to make excuses not to workout and do not cheat on your diet. Consistency is the key to getting those awesome abs and after all, you want to keep that six pack forever so you
will need to remain dedicated. A great way to keep yourself on track is to take a photo of yourself sporting your incredible six pack abs and place it around the house in strategic locations to remind yourself of how great you look with your six pack!
